Drilling Engineer - South Rockies - South Piceance

Position Description
Responsible for every parameter of the well being drilled.
Verifying surveys, directional plans, 10 point drilling plans, verifying the COGCC and Federal permits are correct, supplying rig supervisor with the permits on site, AFE preparation, casing design, cement design, hydraulics design, drilling mud design, solids control design, bit selection, motor selection, rig capabilities, mud pump capabilities, casing running tools, drill pipe design, float equipment, etc.
Supplying every rig with a drilling program & procedures with a drilling curve and to involve the well site consultant to review the program and have their input.
Understand all daily spread cost and your cumulative well cost daily. You will communicate and work closely with the permitting analyst and the construction foreman for location and survey costs. As well as working closely with the geologists for total depths and top of gas
Review and identify all costs in WellCore field estimates daily. Upon completion of running casing and cementing the well meeting with the completion engineers and explain any casing or cementing issues that may have occurred. Ensure that all directional surveys, casing reports and cementing details are in WellCore.
Review all cement bond logs with the completion engineer to evaluate current cement designs. Identify all potential problems with the completion engineer. Communicate with other DE's to share learning's and ideas. Attend DE meetings every other Friday to discuss drilling technology advancements across the company. Educate the WSS on the use of WellCore.
Develops and /or researches new techniques and approaches related to drilling, completion and recovery processes
Applies advanced specialized knowledge to complete research and /or developmental work of major complexity
May plan/direct major projects
Assist lower level engineers on the team
Has a broad knowledge of drilling and production engineering
Executes drilling programs in line with approved budget
Manages field drilling personnel
Qualifications
5+ years experience as a Drilling Engineer
Ability to work well with others in a team environment
Bachelors degree in engineering required
This is a safety sensitive position
