A significant capital and expense investment is being made to increase value from the Oklahoma operational area.
This Production Engineering position will provide "hands on" engineering support for the Oklahoma production operations area. The successful candidate will interface with Marathon employees, contractor employees and vendors to optimize production and expenses in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Effective teamwork is required by the engineer as information is gathered and communicated between field operators, other team members and the SCADA data collection system. Due to current and projected high activity level in this area, the candidate must be highly motivated and willing to independently develop his/her own projects utilizing multiple resources. A mentor will be provided to facilitate an aggressive learning curve.
Areas of opportunity to target will include downhole corrosion prevention, artificial lift optimization, surface facility expansion, chemical optimization, compression, and automation utilization. This position will require a rotating training schedule among various Oklahoma fields which will last approximately 2-3 months.
1. Promote safety and environmental stewardship through personal awareness, interactions, and observations. Help support a strong safety culture.
2. Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and plans along with federal, state and local regulations.
3. Help attain production goals by analyzing well data and formulating recommendations to economically optimize rates and minimize well downtime. Participate in frequent peer reviews with field operators, engineers and production supervisors to share ideas and generate solutions.
4. Participate in expense optimization primarily in the areas of artificial lift, compression, chemical management, and automation.
5. Be proactive with knowledge management and continuous learning in all areas, especially emerging technology.
6. Prepare well Repair & Maintenance and Workover procedures as required and provide rig supervision for these activities as required.
7. Assist in expense and capital project budget preparation and review.
8. Assist with record keeping in areas such as pipeline maps, well work histories and wellbore diagrams.
9. Promote a positive and constructive workplace. Interact with other team members in a manner that will help build respect and achieve goals/commitments.
1. Degree: Bachelors Required
2. Major: Engineering
3. Computer Proficiencies: Excel and Word are required. TOW, Nodal Analysis, Aries and WellView would be a plus.
4. Work Experience: 2-5 years experience in Production and/or Operations Engineering is required.
