Under general supervision, collaborates in bit application recommendations and bit proposal development and performs post well evaluations of bit performance.  Responsible for helping to track product development projects and monitoring the area's bit design requirements.  Individuals at this level are considered a technical specialist for the organization for an assigned area of responsibility. Provides technical and operational collaboration to both external customers and internal customers in a professional manner.  Performs assignments, including the generation of technical papers and performance profiles, requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles, advanced bit technology concepts and basic drilling processes.  Learns and utilizes project management skills in the organization and execution of project assignments.  Participates in continuing developmental programs to accelerate learning.  Should be able to demonstrate the ability to perform all AE Specialist functions. Performance measurements are based upon successful commercialization of new products, revenue, inventory, and profit, based upon the business plan of assigned area of responsibility.  Skills are typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering or related field and a minimum of 4 years of experience in bit-related operations experience, and certification in the AE Development Program or equivalent experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
